Guys! It’s been SO LONG! I haven’t talked to you since AUGUST!
I feel like life just really got away from me. The end of 2014 and the beginning of 2015 seem like a total blur. I think life was just so crazy all of the time, that I just hit the breaks for the last part of 2015. I stayed in more. I read more. I took more long baths. I stayed up late to paint, just because. I just needed to slow down, I guess!
So whats been going on since August? A lot! Here’s the “highlight reel”!
I have fallen in LOVE with my new fitness tracker. My husband (have I mentioned he’s the best?) gave it to me in mid-December & I’ve used it every single day. It’s the Leaf by Bellabeat. Just like a Fitbit, it tracks my steps, burned calories, activities, etc. BUT what I love so much about the Bellabeat as opposed to my Fitbit is the meditation & breathing exercises (YES!), the super-accurate sleep tracking, and the ability to wear it as a clip, bracelet, or necklace. I really like to wear it as a clip on my shirt when I sleep – its so much more comfortable than trying to wear my Fitbit at night.
Oh! And BONUS! The Leaf also predicts ovulation, your next period, and has a pregnancy tracker too! For the win!
If you need a birthday gift, anniversary gift, or a “just because” gift for your dude, then you should definitely check out Broquet! This has been a total hit with my husband – especially the straight razor shaving kits. He’s hooked & keeps saying how he’ll never be able to go back to a safety razor ever again. Aside from that, they have cocktail kits, “man food” kits, and super cool odds & ends that your guy is sure to love!
I have been reading SO much lately! Christina Baker Klein is my current addiction – Orphan Train was heart-wrenching, Sweet Water kept me guessing, and I’m currently getting ready to start The Way Life Should Be. Some other favorites? The Tudors by G.J. Meyer is a well written non-fiction that doesn’t make the reader want to drift off to sleep. Practical Magic by Alice Hoffman was just as fun as I hoped it would be – the movie has always been a favorite of mine (I love stories about magic!) and the book was just as good. OH! And I can’t forget City of Dark Magic by Magnus Flyte. Oh my GOODNESS, everyone must read this book. Magic, Prague, conspiracies, portals to different worlds … Its one of those books that you’ll pick up & still be reading when 3 a.m. rolls around!
Every six months I go through my clothes & my husband goes through his, and we’ll get bags together to donate to Goodwill full of things we don’t wear anymore. I’ve been trying to be more diligent about bringing this practice to other areas of the home. Getting rid of makeup I don’t use, donating old dishes and glassware that we don’t need, and sifting through the closet for anything that really doesn’t serve a purpose. Strangely enough, it feels REALLY good to clear things out! Hoping to keep this up!
I got to take a yoga class with one of my favorite yogis! Rachel Brathen came to the area and I just HAD to see her … so I went with one of my girlfriends! If you don’t follow Rachel Brathen on Instagram, you really should. She’s @yoga_girl … and while you’re at it, you can find me at @hannahbandanarama 🙂 haha! Anyway, the class was amazing. 400+ people sweating, crying, laughing, and practicing together is really something indescribable. If you get a chance to take a class with her, I highly suggest it. You’ll leave feeling exhausted, yet totally refreshed.
Til next time, lovebugs!
